Neptune in Astrology

Neptune represents ideals, fantasy, inspiration, spirituality and imagination. It allows us to dream and indulge in our imagination but it also blurs the lines between what is real and false. It represents collective dreams and is often conveyed in art, music, film, literature, religion and spirituality. Neptune promotes boundless creativity but it can also cause confusion, illusion and deception.

In the birth chart, the Neptune placement shows an area of life that we idealise but face confusion and deception. It also represents where we express our creativity and how compassion and empathy show up in our lives. Neptune can also bring artistic, psychic and mystical talent.

In world astrology, Neptune is associated with religious groups, collectivism and socialism, oceans and seas, secret plots, deception, art, music, media but also escapism via drugs and alcohol. Neptune is neutral, not entirely beneficial nor challenging. However, it can bring disillusionment and uncertainty. If we ignore our intuition, Neptune will not bring forth positive outcomes.

Neptune in Pisces re-cap: 2011 - 2025:

As Neptune moves through a zodiac sign it shows what we idealise for 14 years. During Neptune’s ingress into the water sign Pisces 2011-25, the veil between the physical and spiritual world has been lifted.

During this time, we idealised deception, it became increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fiction and collective disillusionment was widespread. “Fake news”, conspiracy theories and misinformation have all exploded since we live in an interconnected digital world due to the rise in social media. More positively, we have also seen an increase in the awareness of mental health, addiction and healing.

Spiritual content has increased in popularity, especially astrology, tarot and manifestation. Music has taken on a more emotional and introspective sound (dream pop, ambient, indie/folk). Fantasy and dystopian genres in media have exploded in popularity (Stranger Things, Black Mirror, Game of Thrones, Inside Out and the Barbie film etc). Social media has dissolved boundaries between our real lives and digital spaces and misinformation has multiplied.

Neptune in Aries: 2025-39

Neptune transits Aries from 2025-39. The planet of creativity, illusion and imagination transits the sign of war, conflict and heroism. This transit doesn't only bring idealisation, it dissolves how we take action, assert our independence and stand up for our personal sovereignty. However, it can lead to conflict and selfishness.

This transit idealises and distorts identity, personhood and individualism. It breaks down the individual and dissolves the notions of leadership, strength, courage and dominance. Neptune in Aries captures the present military situation, this is a defining era for soldiers and strong leaders and may also coincide with socialist youth movements.

The principles of courage and survival are diffused and distorted. Aries is the ram, impulsivity and assertion will be viewed as sacred acts of devotion. Strength is not an emotion but something to be embodied: aggression and direct action will be idealised. Identities will be fluid and masculine prophets will crumble despite promising fresh starts.

Religious warfare, confrontation and military action will be fragmented and new spiritual views will emerge. Defence, sports, emergency services and weaponry will transform. We are alone in life, courageously balance bold action with compassionate surrender.

Neptune in Aries (2025-33) world predictions:

Idealised masculinity: society may romanticise and distort traditional notions of masculinity, for example strength, courage, dominance and leadership. Male-centric movements may begin and portray 'ideal' versions of masculinity. Spiritualized 'sacred masculinity' movements by influencers may teach men to 'reclaim the warrior within'. This will incorporate Neptunian themes such as healing, purpose and emotional transcendence.

Deception of individualism: The principles of survival, struggle, heroism and conflict will be idealised. Leaders which at first appear 'strong' and determined and will fail to project a universal idea of individuality. Focus on self-development, this transit can encourage impulsivity with the delusion of a higher purpose but forget the outside noise.

Idealised warfare and conflict: this transit projects the idea we must fight in the name of a noble cause, be one of the rare people who choose peace over conflict! As the first zodiac sign, Aries promotes self-advocacy but Neptune inspires us to be empathetic and sensitive.

Music and media: dreamy, emotional and moody music (Pisces) may take the backseat in favour of heavier genres such as rap, rock, alternative and heavy metal (Aries). There may be a trend towards rejecting mainstream culture and preferring emotionally authentic raw genres. Aries themes such as anger, sexuality, desire and identity will be common themes in music. In film, war and action genres will increase in popularity, for example John Wick's and Avenger's films etc.
